Curious if my favourite treats from Rocky Mountain House held up in the city, I made a stop at Mountain House Bakery in Red Deer. Located at 6730 Taylor Dr in Red Deer, it’s an easy little detour when you’re cruising through town. This location is a bit smaller than the Rocky Mountain House shop, with a lighter selection, but still packed with plenty of tempting goodies, fresh breads, and a few fun imported finds tucked in between.

From rows of homemade pies and cookies to donuts, fritters, and colourful meringues, there’s no shortage of sweet options staring you down. The custom cakes here also steal the show, with some seriously detailed designs that make you stop and look twice.

Of course, I grabbed my usual cream puff. The staff told me it’s the exact same as Rocky Mountain House, and while it was still delicious, I have to admit… I’m sticking with my original favourite. That said, if you’re in Red Deer and need a quick sugar fix or a bakery stop with variety, this one is definitely worth popping into.
