Crescent Falls near Nordegg, Alberta is one of those waterfall adventures that feels wild and rugged without needing a huge hike to enjoy it. Spring is waterfall season and mid May is around when it starts to pick up. I ventured down right before the campground opens for the year.

Located down a remote forestry road in David Thompson Country, the drive alone feels like part of the experience. Before even reaching the waterfall parking lot, there is a scenic canyon pullout worth stopping at for sweeping views of the river carving through the rocky cliffs below.

From the parking area, it is only a short walk to the impressive Crescent Falls viewpoints and trail system. New lookout platforms and stairways now give visitors incredible views down into the canyon and directly across from the powerful waterfall. The campground sits nearby, making this an easy overnight adventure in the Alberta wilderness.
