Our five-day canoe trip began with a scenic train ride from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to the remote community of Biscotasing, where we unloaded our canoes and gear and began our adventure. After packing our canoes, we set off to paddle the West Branch of the Spanish River in Ontario, Canada, making our way through stretches of calm flatwater as well as some sections of moving water. As we journeyed onward, we came across sections of whitewater, testing both our paddling and portaging skills. Each evening, we set up camp in tents along the river’s edge, ate some delicious food, and enjoyed a peaceful campfire with amazing stars. The breathtaking scenery of towering trees, rocky shorelines, and serene skies made every day enjoyable on the West Branch of the Spanish River in Ontario, Canada.

Seeing the Northern Lights is a thrilling experience! The Auroras (Northern Lights) are visible in Alberta, Canada from September to April with the best viewing typically in November to March.

Download an Aurora Borealis App and when you get an alert on your mobile phone, head out to a backroad where it is nice and dark away from city lights. Park in a safe place off the road and turn off your headlights. Your phones camera will pick up the Northern Lights before your naked eye will but once you can see some colors through your phone, be patient and as the KP increases you will be able to see Lady Aurora dance with just your eyes.

The timing of Auroras can vary but usually she appears late at night, after midnight so dress warm and grab a coffee and get out on the Backroads of Alberta to experience the beauty of Lady Aurora!

Having dinner in the Cove Room at the Erie Shores Hotel in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada was a memorable and tasty experience.  Located in the heart of Port Dover, The Erie Shores Hotel Room is located close to Port Dover Beach on the north shore of Lake Erie. With over six hundred dining seats, the Erie Shores Hotel has been serving perch and pickerel since 1946. Known for its iconic celery bread, the Cove room also offers a feast of unlimited salads which add a unique touch to the meal. We enjoyed a variety of fresh salads, including coleslaw, cucumber salad, marshmallow mandarin salad, bean salad, and the tangy horseradish jello. The combination of these classic salads and our tasty main dishes, made for a memorable dining experience that captured the charm of the Cove Room at the Erie Shores Hotel in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada.
