Eastern Manitoba, Canada is a popular recreation destination and a natural wilderness environment consisting of small villages, resort townsites, sandy beaches, endless lakes and limitless year round adventures. Some of the larger tourism towns, villages and communities located in the Eastern Manitoba region include Lac du Bonnet, Steinbach, Beausejour, Pinawa, St. Malo, St. Pierre-Jolys, Falcon Lake and Grand Beach.
Throughout the region there are museums sharing the stories from the past. Museums like the Whiteshell Natural History Museum and the West Hawk Museum (Whiteshell Provincial Park), Crooks Creek Galician Settlement (Cooks Creek), Ukrainian Museum (Gardenton) and the Le Musee de Saint Pierre-Jolys Museum (St. Pierre-Jolys).
Heritage buildings, historic sites and heritage villages provide another glimpse into the past. There are villages like the Mennonite Heritage Village (Steinbach) and the Anola Museum Pioneer Village (Anola). And there are heritage buildings like the 1906 Manitoba Glass Factory (Beausejour), 1889 St. Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Gardenton), 1911 Willow Plain one-room School (Sarto) and the 1908 St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Bell Tower (Sundown).
During the sunshine summer months the adventures and activities enjoyed in the eastern section of the province include boating, sailing, water skiing, golfing, backpacking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, kayaking, hiking, hunting, birdwatching, picnicking, camping, wind surfing, horseback riding, mountain biking and cycling.
Adventures change in the winter months after the snow falls and the waterways freeze. Some of the winter activities enjoyed in the region include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing and snowboarding.
In the Eastern region there are some large wilderness parks and nature areas to explore. Some of the more popular wilderness destinations in the region are the Atikaki Provincial Park, Elk Island Provincial Park, Grand Beach Provincial Park, Nopiming Provincial Park, Patricia Beach Provincial Recreation Park, Tall Grass Prairie Preserve and the Whiteshell Provincial Park.
