One of our favourite stops in Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island was the Lake Side Ice Cream shop. In addition to classic hard ice cream scoops, they offered creative treats like custom cookie sandwiches and choose-your-own ice cream floats!

The trailhead sign at Wagg's Woods Trails. There are a variety of trails available in the area. Parking is free and admission to the trails is by donation. This trailhead is located just outside of Mindemoya, on Manitoulin Island.

My teens enjoyed the floating swimming raft in the warm and clear waters of Sheguiandah Bay, while visiting Manitoulin Island. The foggy background is a result of wildfire smoke from Manitoba.

The sandy beach of Sheguiandah Bay at Batman's Cottages and Campground were stunningly beautiful. The kids enjoyed using their sand toys, in addition to tossing the football and going for swims.

This sign made me do a double-take while travelling between Georgian Bay and Lake Huron on the Chi-Cheemaun. "Please do not hold children on or over railings". I assure you that I did neither of these things!

Searching for buried treasure in the sandy beach at Batman's Cottages and Campground near Sheguiandah, Ontario, on Manitoulin Island. Closer to the marina, the boys found some old metal fishing lures and minnow traps!

Here's an example of one of the very large fossils we were able to observe while hiking along the Fossil Trail at Wagg's Woods Trails outside of Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island. We think this may have been a bit of coral from the prehistoric sea bed.

After toppling over the Bridal Veil Falls, the Kagawong River is shallow and fairly slowly moving. Visitors can walk along the river bed, while hikers travel paths on either side. A beautiful way to explore Manitoulin Island.
