The Meewasin Valley in Saskatoon is the gem of the city and a must-see attraction. I always enjoy going for a walk to explore some of the over 105km of trails, parks and sites when visiting Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Meewasin or miýwâsin is Cree for ‘it is beautiful’ and it certainly is that. The river valley is well cared for by the Meewasin conservation agency. They are dedicated to preserving Saskatoon's cultural and natural resources along the South Saskatchewan River Valley in Canada's largest urban conservation area!
We explored the west side of the trail system during our recent visits to Saskatoon this summer.

The Meewasin Trail is accessible with gradual ramps leading into the river valley. The 5-year-old kid in me would have loved running up and down this one.
Is there anything more peaceful than an evening paddle on calm waters? This one seems to capture the spirit of Saskatoon. People just quietly going about their lives and enjoying the outdoors.
The Sugar Shack at River Landing, near the rRemai Modern Art Gallery is Saskatoon's go-to spot for ice cream. It reminds me of a 1950's milkshake diner, but this one is walk up. The serve a lot of the usuals like ice cream, Dole Whip (Dairy...
The Sugar Shack at River Landing, near the rRemai Modern Art Gallery is Saskatoon's go-to spot for ice cream. It reminds me of a 1950's milkshake diner, but this one is walk up. The serve a lot of the usuals like ice cream, Dole Whip (Dairy free), milkshakes and sundaes. They have some unusual specialties like ice cream nachos, ice bergs (a slush with soft serve). Food is that of a traditional diner, mainly burgers and hot dogs.

The Shoppe is an exquisite French pastry destination with dine-in and grab and go options. They serve lunch and high tea. The Shoppe also sells hand-crafted candies and chocolates! It is like being whisked away to a mini-French holiday.
