At 3.1km long and built out of reinforced concrete, the Brooks Aqueduct was the largest aqueduct of its type in the world! Built by the Canadian Pacific Railway in the early 1900's. The Government of Canada and CPR hoped to bring water security for agriculture in the area and thereby encouraging settlement of the region. The Brooks Aqueduct was in operation for 63 years and now both a Provincial Historic Resource and a National Historic Site.
