I had no idea you could just walk over the Canadian USA Border! My whole life we always drove over the Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls Canada into New York USA. We decided to try something new and walk across! This being my bonus daughters 1st time ever leaving Canada, it was a really fun experience and an easy process to explore our 2 connecting countries. You just have to have all the appropriate documents (passport) to do the walk across the bridge into the USA and back into Canada.
Walking around Niagara State Park looking for the entrance to the tower, we walked right by it and circled back on a different trail which lead to this cool below deck view.

The entrance to the observation tower in Niagara Falls New York is at the same location as the entrance for the Maid of the Mist.
This is the Rainbow International Bridge from the observation tower. You can drive across or walk across this bridge to access both Canada and the United States of America

It was a pleasure to see the falls from "the other side". As a longtime resident in the Niagara region, we did not often get to see the falls from this side.
Litte did I know, the Maid of the Mist is the name of the american falls tour only. We do not have a canadian Maid of the Mist. Ours is run by Niagara City Cruises and is just called the Falls Tour.
The official Maid of the Mist is on the american side of Niagara Falls. You can find the entrance in Niagara Falls State Park. Seemed a lot less crowded than the canadian falls boat tour...which is not called The Maid of the Mist, but City Boat...

So we thought it would be cute if 2 out of 4 of us stayed on one side in Canada, while 2 walked across to the United States.
In that front row of tiny people, little seeker and her dad are waving at us from Canada!
The history of this area, and the stories from the past, can fill days upon days if you have the time and want to explore the fascinating background of Niagara Falls.
As a canadian just wandering around Niagara Falls New York USA, we felt quite safe and had fun walking through the streets exploring the different businesses on the american side
As a kid, I could always see the rainbow hotel, or at least that's what I called it. It had/has neon lights like a waterfall down the entire height of the building and was always a memorable site from across the Niagara River. The "Rainbow Hotel"...

I always enjoy popping into all the different Hard Rock Cafe locations I pass by. They always have the most interesting decor on the walls. And you never know who you might bump into. I was excited to check Niagara Falls New York off the list
