Fletcher Falls are found along Fletcher Creek just south of Kaslo British Columbia Canada. Along the shores of Kootenay Lake, there is a short steep trail down to the waterfall and day use area. Additionally there is a small campsite located at the bottom as well. Mainly used for boaters off of Kootenay Lake. The trail consists of many switchbacks, but it only takes about 5-10 minutes to arrive at the base of the falls. Alternatively, you don't even need to go all the way down to see the waterfall. After only a few hundred meters, you'll be able to see it as you hike down the trail. But getting to the bottom is worth it for the small bridge, boardwalk and view. Many waterfalls are not easily accessible during the winter, but Fletcher Falls was an easy trail to do in the winter months. Optimal conditions for a winter waterfall hike.
There is a tiny parking area just off of Hwy 31/Balfour-Kaslo-Galena Bay Hwy for Fletcher Falls, between Ainsworth Hotsprings and Kaslo in British Columbia.
I passed it once and had to circle back. It was a bit deceiving looking and I missed it. But once I got out for the vehicle it was more clear where to start the Fletcher Creek Falls trail
I was treated with some pleasant winter conditions for the Fletcher Creek Falls hike. As you can see, you head straight down, following the sound of Fletcher Creek towards Kootenay Lake ahead.
It did not take long to have Fletcher Creek Falls in my view. By the time you reach the first guard rail you're treated to these views. Only a couple hundred meters down the trail.
As you can see, people take short cuts from the switchbacks making the trail into a spiderweb. Thankfully it's easy to spot the main trail. Always the safest and best choice to stay on the main pathways.
I was happily making my way down the path, literally, it's quite a steep way down, and couldn't get over how you can see the falls almost the whole way.
January was a quiet time to visit this hiking trail with a waterfall near Kalso British Columbia. Beautiful huge waterfall pouring down into Kootenay Lake.
There is a narrow rooty worn down trail to approach the base of the falls. Obviously take caution and decide if it's safe or not based on the weather conditions.
British Columbia has so many waterfalls, it's impossible to see them all. But Fletcher Creek Falls is a pretty easy and rewarding waterfall hike in the Kootenay Lake area
Kootenay Lake has many day use areas around it. Except not all are open during the winter months, access wise. Fletcher Creek Falls Recreation site is accessible by hiking down all year round.
Very close to the shores of Kootenay Lake is this adorable little bridge to cross Fletcher Creek to access the Day Use side of the recreation area, as well as the waterfall viewing area.
