As part of Edmonton's Corporate Challenge I had the opportunity to try and compete in the obstacle course event. The competition was held at City Fit Shop, a ninja warrior, parkour style obstacle course gym located just off of Whyte Avenue. In a race against the clock we needed to complete the course as fast as possible. We had one shot at each obstacle and then it was onto the next, except for the warp wall. We had three tries for that one. A fail one any obstacle meant our team was docked points. I loved obstacle courses as a kid and love them now just as much...I'm just not quite as good at them as I used to be.

The Corporate Challenge obstacle course started outside with a variety of stations to test all aspects of our fitness. This particular challenge involved moving from point a to b while standing on and moving small wooden blocks.

By comparison to the sled pull and other challenges this looks like it should have been easy. Simply stand on the pipe, balance while you flip is over and move onto the next one. This tests balance, core and coordination which I was apparently lacking that day. #fail
Finally, a challenge I can do to redeem myself for the pipe roll fail. Competitors needed to work their way around the bouldering wall at City Fit Shop as part of the Corporate Challenge event.
City Fit Shop has a wide variety to programs to choose from including birthday parties (for all ages), day camps for kids, fitness classes and personal training.
Apparently these warp walls are the same size as the ones on TV and equally as challenging. One trick that I picked up...get shoes that have good grips.
Ninja warrior, parkour, obstacle course challenges are so much fun. The staff and volunteers at City Fit Shop now how to make everyone feel welcome and confident. Why not give it a go next time you you are visiting Edmonton?
