Passing under the Bow Valley Parkway Sign is always a special moment. For those cycling the entire challenging 58km from Banff to Lake Louise this marks the start of the Parkway to Pint Challenge. After reaching Lake Louise cyclists are rewarded with a free Banded Peek craft beer but only between June 13 and September 8.

The best thing about cycling the Bow Valley Parkway in Banff National Park are all the incredible mountain views. We had a perfect day, and I am pretty sure that I said, "Wow, this is so pretty" around every bend.

Next to being in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the best part of riding the Bow Valley Parkway is the wide-open roads. Could there be a better sight for a road cyclist?

The only downside to cycling the Bow Valley Parkway is how often you will want to stop to snap a picture of the views.

After cycling a 35km from the Johnston Canyon Campground to the Bow Valley Parkway gates and back (or the 17km from Banff to Johnston Canyon) enjoying a beer on the patio at the Blackswift Bistro is a well earned treat.

Lunch on the patio at Blackswift Bistro at Johnston Canyon is always nice, well when it is warm out. Oops, nearly missed getting a picture of the fries for you because they are really good.
