Afternoon Tea and King's Favourite Breakfast available May 6th only, at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC.
Raise a toast or perhaps— a scone! To celebrate King Charles III's Coronation, the most regal eatery in town is going from Queen to King. Q at the Empress and Q Bar, located inside Fairmont Empress, will temporarily be changing their names to "K at the Empress" and "K Bar" to honour the coronation.
Special culinary offer includes The King's Favourite Breakfast (a cheesy egg bake) as well as a special Afternoon Tea experience featuring the King's favourite tea, Darjeeling served with milk and honey—both offered May 6th only.
The special afternoon tea will feature the Empress' finest scones, clotted cream and jam, savouries, sandwiches and delectable desserts.
Take your time in the elegant Lobby Lounge, an airy space that channels turn-of-the-century elegance with modern refinement and then head over to K Bar after and sip on the King's Elixir, a delicious gin cocktail fit for royalty.
Guests will be served a special macaron decorated with the official emblem of the king's coronation and receive a commemorative menu to take home as a keepsake to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Reservations are recommended and may be made from the website below or by calling the Empress at 1-250-384-8111.

Tian Jin Festival, affectionately called the TJ Fest for short, is a celebration of the cultural diversity of the Chinese community in Vancouver, with live music and lots of great, authentic Taiwanese street food. Some of the food items this year will include salt and pepper chicken, savoury Chinese buns, Taiwanese pork belly hamburgers, pepper pork pastries, and even traditional Taiwanese Bento Boxes will be on offer.
TJ Fest takes place across two blocks at the Tian-Jin Temple at 3426 Smith Avenue, in Burnaby BC, and this year's event will be even bigger than ever, with expanded offerings set up in an adjacent park featuring free activities for children and families.
This is a free event taking place on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday May 7, from 11 AM to 4 PM on both days. In addition to the food, guests can look forward to performances and an artisanal community market.
Although most of the event is about Taiwanese culture, and Taoism, many other cultures are at the festival as well. This is best seen through the variety of live performances. There is an outdoor stage where musicians and dancers provide entertainment. Some performances are traditional and culturally significant, so TJ Fest is a good place to learn about a multitude of cultures. The stage area also has several roundtables with chairs and stools, and there are more places to eat out on the street.
