Less than an hour away from Calgary, Canoe Meadows is only a 3 minute drive or a 1 hour hike from the Widowmaker in Kananaskis Country Alberta. A neat place to find on our hike, the river was lined with race course markers! In the summer this is a super popular kayaking area and home to Kanafest Whitewater Festival in the summer months. Find your way down the Kananaskis river to Canoe Meadows, or head to the put in area at Canoe Meadows and do the course. You'll find a great trail above the river, a trail you can take all the way to the Widowmaker if you wanted. A large day use area with picnic tables, washrooms as well as an awesome group camping area and a tent camping section. A fun place to explore during the winter months with the low flow of water.
