Northern Lights are a common thing to see in central Alberta Canada. Especially during the fall and winter months. They do happen all year long, they just seem to be more common at certain times.

Finding a nice dark country road is your best bet to see them, away from light pollution. I was hanging out at Bearberry Cabins, so was treated to completely dark skies and amazing views.

I'd have to say this may have been the brightest/deepest colours I've seen yet. I have seen more active shows, but the deep pink and reds were stunning. This show peaked from 11 p.m to 1 a.m. Oct 7-8.

I just use my cell phone for pictures. I do not edit my photos at all. A simple crop or straightening, but never the colours or any of that. If I ever do, I mention that it is edited in the caption. These pictures are all just from using the automatic "Night Mode" setting on my Samsung phone. If it's dark enough, the phone automatically puts itself in that setting. It's taking about 3 second exposure shots then at that point. I did include a photo of the phone taken out of night mode. My eyes still saw it brighter than that photo picked up. It's hard to show what you get to see with your eyes, verses how a phone or camera pick them up. You'll just have to see for yourself one day hopefully!

The Northern Lights have been super active this week (Oct 7). They come and go fast.

Searching for the perfect viewing spot was easy in Bearberry. There is a little bench that faces east, but offered amazing views

As the Northern Lights were just starting in the area, I was adventuring around to find the perfect spot.

You have to love when you're already under a dark sky when the Aurora's kick up.

The skies were alive with colour dancing all around towards the northeast these past couple nights in October.

Every second the skies change. If you saw them 5 minutes ago, you should peak again. They're likely different

It's always an absolute pleasure to see the Northern Lights. I have lost count of how many times I have gotten to see them. They never get old

As I was driving home, the sky absolutely lit up! I could see the reds with my naked eye and knew the photos would be stunning on night mode

Here's a shot not on night mode on my cell
Just regular photo setting. My eyes could see brighter than what this shows. But not as bright as on night mode

These were probably the deepest and darkest reds I have ever seen. Definitely an intense solar flare!

I love when there is some structure in the way of the Northern Lights. Gives the photos a bit ore character

In just a few moments, the sky went from a touch of light, to absolutely bursting and dancing behind the trees
