In Edmonton there is a place known as Happy Beer Street. It is more than just one street as it spans 22-blocks south of Whyte Ave and along 99 Street. There seems to be an ever-growing number of craft breweries that have chosen to call Happy Beer Street home. Why wouldn't you really? Happy Beer Street is home to nine craft breweries including Alberta's 4th oldest craft brewery, Alley Kat. It is also home to Edmonton's youngest craft brewery, Ale Architect. Other breweries that call this place home are Blind Enthusiasm, Bent Stick Brewing, The Monolith, Odd Company, Omen Brewing, Longroof Brewing Co, and Edmonton's location for Sea Change Brewing Company. Along with some of our friends we have been slowly working our way through Edmonton’s craft beer scene and decided to have a Sociable Saturday at Happy Beer Street.


In addition to craft breweries there are several other businesses in the area that are known as 'Friends of Happy Beer Street'. These include restaurants like Farrow who make sandwiches, coffee, and baked goods. Luna Mexican Restaurant which is among the best Mexican restaurants in Edmonton. The Grindstone Comedy Theatre and Bistro and Strathcona Spirits are also among the Friends of Happy Beer Street.

Although they are technically all competitors, they also love to work together to compete against the big macro-breweries. Additionally, they love to collaborate to drive tourism to the area by hosting events like bottle launches, food trucks and patio parties, even comedy shows, live music and hops plant sales.
