Join me on a scenic January winter drive through Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park, British Columbia. This stretch of the Trans Canada Highway heads west from the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre, passing the entrances to Illecillewaet Campground and Loop Brook Campground, all wrapped in classic Canadian winter scenery.

We lucked out with beautiful winter driving conditions on a crisp January afternoon, showcasing why Rogers Pass is one of the most iconic mountain drives in Canada. Known as one of the most snowy places in the country, the Rogers Pass area receives an incredible average of 32.5 feet of snow annually! With heavy snowfall common from October through late spring.

Because of these conditions, snow tires are mandatory by law between October 1 and March 31 when driving driving British Columbia mountain passes.

EH Fun Fact: No month of the year is guaranteed to be snow-free in Rogers Pass. While summers do arrive, snow can fall at any time, even in July and August!

Whether you’re planning a winter road trip or simply love scenic Canadian drives, this video offers a real look at driving Rogers Pass in winter, one of British Columbia’s most breathtaking routes.
