This fantastic and unique wood carving of a historic NL root cellar was gifted to me by my dad for Christmas and I couldn’t love it any more. The local handicraft was hand carved in Marystown on the scenic Burin Peninsula of the island. The artist is talented local artist Harold Moulton and his art work can be found at the Marystown Model Ship Museum.

Root Cellars were used in the early days of NL for storing root vegetables throughout the Winter months on the island. Many cellars are still in use and scatter the landscape in Twillingate.
