Come join us at "Kampai Toronto 2022", Canada’s largest sake festival!

Sake Institute of Ontario (SIO) is officially announcing the return of Kampai Toronto as an in-person event! We invite you to once again come together with friends and fellow enthusiasts to explore sakes from Japan and around the world, chat with vendors and brewers & sample food from a selection of Toronto’s finest Japanese restaurants.

The 10th edition of Kampai Toronto will be held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) in conjunction with World Sake Day on the evening of Saturday October 1st. We are excited to partner with the JCCC which is one of the largest, most vibrant Japanese cultural institutions in the world, offering a perfect setting to experience the extensive history, boundless culture and impressive legacy of sake, a beverage which continues to evolve and innovate over centuries to this day.

Since its inception in 2012 this Festival of Sake (also Canada’s largest!) has been the go-to event to celebrate sake by interacting with distributors and manufacturers while sampling an incredible array of sakes in a range of styles.

Over 200 sakes and 50 sake breweries will be exhibiting at this event.

To attend Kampai Toronto you must purchase an admission ticket. We strongly encourage you to purchase ahead of time in case the event becomes sold out.

In order to sample sakes for the main event walk around tasting patrons will need drink tickets. Drink tickets are available to purchase in combination with admission (recommended) as well as at the venue during the event.

6 prominent local restaurants/food vendors will be providing a variety of Japanese & Asian inspired gourmet appetizers for sale. Food vendors will be accepting cash/credit/debit.

ABOUT SAKE

Sake made its first international debut at the 1872 Vienna International Expo, under the name "Nihonshu". Although sake has been in existence in Japan for over a two thousand years, it’s recent resurgence in the Japanese and international market is partially due to its elegance and versatility when paired with other cuisines. Unlike other alcohols, most sake is produced in small batches at artisanal breweries and is considered craft with many distinct classifications. Kampai Toronto is a rare opportunity to experience the depth and complexity of this culturally significant Japanese beverage and tradition.

This is an age 19+ event.
