By Cary Horning in Alberta 848 views 11th Mar, 2024 Video Duration: N/A   176 Bedford Dr NE #5, Calgary, AB T3K 2M9, Canada

Stumpy is a 3 legged Bobcat in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Stumpy, is an affectionate nickname given to a 3 legged Bobcat in the N.E. community of Beddington in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Stumpy is somewhat of a celebrity in neighbourhood as humans have nothing to fear, but keep your cats indoors and watch your small dogs, even in their own backyards.

Although Stumpy looks a little underweight, she will find food easier in the warmer months to come and beef back up again. Stumpy is a very good jumper and quite capable of hopping into your backyard or perching herself on your fence waiting for some small prey to come by. Including your cats and small dogs. We live with wildlife so protect your pets and do not leave them unattended outside.

I had heard of Stumpy for years but had never seen her until today when she decided to visit our neighbourhood.

A wonderful wildlife in the city moment!

Many folks worried about her have called the Wildlife people on Stumpys behalf, but are assured Stumpy is fine and just living her life with a disability to which she has adapted well. We saw her use her stump leg to bear her full weight when she jumped, which was impressive. My heart breaks for her having lost a paw but it is amazing how she deals with it and has found an area where she has lots of safe places to rest, plenty of food, and many fans keeping an eye on her. Recently there have been folks out admiring her beauty and taking photos when she is spotted and then posting to our neighbourhood groups so Stumpy is now our local Bobcat celebrity of sorts.
