Alberta, Canada River Rafting is an opportunity to explore some of the 240+ rivers located throughout the province. Luckily many of the major rivers in Alberta are approved rafting rivers. Most rafting tour companies are located in mid to large size Alberta communities and access the rivers via a vehicle. All river rafting destinations have designated put-in and take-out points designated by the rafting companies.
The rivers in Alberta vary in difficulty. Some rivers, identified as "Class 1" rivers, are easy going, no white water, low flow rate rivers which are ideal for families and for floating adventures. A "Class 1" river is a great opportunity to explore and try river rafting for the first time. A "Class 6" river and higher are very challenging rivers only suited for the experienced river rafting enthusiasts.
