Ice Follies 2025 will be held from Friday, February 7th to Friday, February 21st
on the shores of Lake Nipissing, North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Mark your calendars and plan to attend the 2025 Ice Follies where art lovers and adventure seekers can experience original contemporary Northern Ontario and local Indigenous art in its most unexpected forms. The winter landscape of Lake Nipissing is transformed into an extraordinary and interactive outdoor museum at North Bays Shabogesic Beach. Schedule of Events for 2025 Ice Follies 2025 Opening Night: February 7th, 2025 Opening Remarks at 6:00 PM EST | Performance at 7:00 PM EST Shabogesic Beach (Memorial Drive, North Bay) Kick-off Ice Follies 2025 with our Opening Night Reception on February 7th at Shabogesic Beach. Enjoy free refreshments to warm you up before experiencing a dynamic performance at 7:00 PM by Aanmitaagzi, a renowned community-based Indigenous performing group celebrated for their captivating and culturally rich presentations. Tours Offered Throughout the Festival: Join us for a guided walking tour led by Artist, Colin Davis, offering unique insights and in-depth information about each artwork. Day and night tours feature slightly different experiences. Tickets are $10 per person, with a free tour on Family Day. Register for a tour online Sunday 9th @ 10 am Wednesday 12th @5:30 pm with ASL Interpretation Saturday 15th @ 2 pm Monday 17th @ 11 am Monday 17th @ 6 pm with ASL Interpretation February 8th-9th, 2025, Noon – 4 pm Capitol Centre Theatre (150 Main St E, North Bay) Join us at the Spotlight Lounge in the Capitol Centre on opening weekend to hear insightful and engaging talks by this year’s featured artists. February 8th, 2025 from Noon – 4 pm: • Nico Glaude • David Chops • Aanmitaagzi February 9th, 2025 from Noon – 4 pm • Anyse Ducharme • Studio Nude Beach February 15 – 16th, 2025 Olmstead Beach (Trout Lake, North Bay) Experience immersive audio-visual performances at Trout Lake’s Olmstead Beach. These special events provide opportunities to engage with art through captivating soundscapes and stunning light installations. 7:00 PM – NAISA Listening Party Immerse yourself in New Adventure in Sound Arts (NAISA) captivating audio installation amidst the festival grounds! Drop in, grab a seat by the bonfire, and enjoy an evening of contemplative soundscapes. Perfect for a cozy, reflective moment under the stars. 8:00 PM – Ice Shift/Elevations Performance by Hyperboreal Witness Ice Shift/Elevations, an hour-long performance on the ice that blends electronic soundscapes, video projections, and interactive elements. Ice Follies Community Choir Family Day, February 17, 2025 at 2 pm Shabogesic Beach (Memorial Drive, North Bay) Back by popular demand, on Family Day we will be hosting a free-to-participate community choir amidst the artworks, facilitated by our friends, Lindsay Sullivan and Rose Erin Stokes. All are invited to join and sing along or listen! Aanmitaagzi Drumming and Dancing Family Day, February 17, 2025 from Noon – 3 pm Shabogesic Beach (Memorial Drive, North Bay) Aanmitaagzi will be on-site during Family Day, activating their area with drumming and dancing! All are invited to come out and participate. Frozen Frames: An Ice Follies Retrospective Photo Documentation by Liz Lott February 7th – March 8th, 2025 WKP Kennedy Gallery (150 Main St E, North Bay) Presented in partnership with the WKP Kennedy Gallery, this exhibit celebrates two decades of art on ice, showcasing one stunning photograph for every participating artist since the festival’s inception in 2004. Liz Lott’s breathtaking images highlight the innovative installations and performances that have transformed Lake Nipissing into a vibrant canvas of creativity. Visit the WKP Kennedy Gallery from February 7th to March 8th, 2025, and experience the magic of Ice Follies through Liz’s lens! Dress warmly and wear good footwear as the ice can be slippery. |
