The Newfoundland Sea Spout - An Ocean Powered Geyser
Located on Newfoundland's Southern Shore along the East Coast Trail one can find the famous sea spout. "The Spout", as us locals call it, is a wave powered geyser and a popular geological feature. A most challenging and rewarding hike, this long hilly trail is for experienced and prepared hikers only. The Spout is accessible via the overland snowshoe route in winter when there is snow and the ponds are frozen. However, there is no marked trail, navigation is required and weather conditions can deteriorate rapidly.
