Ontario Canada Adventure Travel Guide

Explore Tourism Activities, Things to Do, Planning Tips & Travel Information

Discover natural escapes, cultural icons, and outdoor adventures across Ontario, Canada

Welcome to Ontario Canada Adventure Travel, your eco-conscious and locally inspired travel guide to one of the most diverse provinces in the country. From thundering waterfalls and Great Lakes coastlines to vibrant cities and boreal forests, Ontario, Canada is a destination filled with year-round adventure. With endless activities, a strong cultural heritage, and a deep commitment to conservation, Ontario is the perfect playground for Canadian travel enthusiasts.

Ontario Canada Adventure Travel and Location Highlights

Ontario Canada Adventure Travel unfolds in east-central Canada, bordered by Quebec, Manitoba, the United States, and four of the five Great Lakes. The province is home to Canada’s most populated city, Toronto, and its capital city, Ottawa. These urban centres provide world-class museums, entertainment, and dining — but the real magic of Ontario lies beyond city lights.

Remarkably, Ontario contains over 250,000 lakes, making up one-fifth of the world’s freshwater. From hiking in ancient forests to canoeing in backcountry parks, the province is a haven for sustainable tourism and unforgettable wilderness experiences.

Activities and Things To Do in Ontario Canada Adventure Travel

Fortunately, Ontario Canada Adventure Travel offers an incredible variety of activities and things to do. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore hiking trails in Algonquin Provincial Park, paddle the historic waterways of the Trent-Severn, or cycle through the vineyards of Prince Edward County. In the winter, snowshoeing, skating, and cross-country skiing take over, with well-maintained trails across the province.

Because of its vast geography and four-season climate, Ontario makes trip planning easy no matter when you visit. Eco-conscious travelers can choose from hundreds of locally guided tours, Indigenous-led experiences, and conservation-focused adventures.

Tourism Tips and Ontario Canada Adventure Travel Highlights

Among the most iconic destinations in Ontario is Niagara Falls, one of the world's most famous waterfalls. However, it’s just one part of Ontario’s vast tourism landscape. Ottawa, Canada’s capital, boasts Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and national museums, while Toronto dazzles with cultural attractions, markets, and the CN Tower.

Additionally, eco-tourism is thriving across the province. For instance, Manitoulin Island — the world’s largest freshwater island — is a cultural gem with Indigenous tourism experiences and scenic beauty. Killarney, Lake Superior, and Quetico Provincial Parks provide rugged backcountry adventures and pristine campsites with minimal environmental impact.

Interestingly, Ontario is also home to the longest recreational trail in the world — The Great Trail — which stretches across multiple provinces and showcases Ontario's rural and urban diversity.

Ontario Parks, Trails, and Places of Interest

The province’s park system is a cornerstone of Ontario Canada Adventure Travel. Algonquin Park is world-renowned for wildlife viewing and backcountry camping, while Bruce Peninsula National Park offers crystal-clear waters, cliffs, and the famous Grotto cave.

Meanwhile, the Thousand Islands region is perfect for boating and island-hopping along the St. Lawrence River. Petroglyphs Provincial Park protects the largest concentration of Indigenous rock carvings in Canada, offering travelers a chance to connect with deep-rooted history.

Because so much of Ontario remains forested and protected, eco-conscious travel is both encouraged and easily accessible.

Eco-Friendly Planning Tips for Ontario Canada Adventure Travel

To preserve Ontario’s natural beauty, travelers are urged to follow Leave No Trace principles, support local and Indigenous businesses, and explore lesser-known destinations. Many operators offer carbon-neutral packages, and provincial parks have added educational programming focused on biodiversity and sustainability.

Moreover, Ontario’s extensive trail and waterway networks allow for self-guided exploration — whether by bike, canoe, or snowshoe — minimizing your carbon footprint while maximizing your adventure.

    • Happy that they have developed this Nature Reserve, it looks relatively new as within the last 5 years or so, at least the main structure and signs.

Today we visited Splash Down Vernon with Sonia and Wyeth, and it turned out to be such a fun surprise! Going in, I wasn’t too optimistic about what slides Sonia could ride—or even what Wyeth could go on—but I was pleasantly surprised. With an adult, they were able to enjoy all but 5 of the slides, which made it a fantastic experience for everyone...even the little.

    ? About Splash Down Vernon:
Splash Down Vernon is a family-friendly waterpark in Vernon, British Columbia, featuring exciting waterslides, a lazy river, a splash pad for younger kids, and plenty of shaded picnic spots. It’s the perfect summer activity for families, kids, and anyone looking to cool off while having fun.

? Pro Tip: The last 4 hours of the day are offered at a discounted rate, making it a budget-friendly way to enjoy all the rides and attractions without missing out.

We were able to experience everything at the park, and it felt like such a great way to support local attractions in Vernon. Whether you’re visiting the Okanagan or looking for fun things to do in Vernon with kids, Splash Down is a must-do summer activity!
