Inglis Falls Conservation Area

Hiking The Bruce Trail At Inglis Falls Conservation Area

Discover the breathtaking Inglis Falls Conservation Area, one of Ontario’s most iconic natural attractions. Known as “the best waterfalls in the area,” Inglis Falls is admired in every season. This 18-metre cascade was formed when the Sydenham River met the dramatic edge of the Niagara Escarpment, creating a deep gorge and spectacular scenery. Access to the base of the falls is strictly prohibited, but the views from above are unforgettable.

Bruce Trail Niagara Escarpment

Situated within the 200-hectare conservation area, Inglis Falls provides direct access to the Bruce Trail Niagara Escarpment. Additionally, more than 7 km of hiking trails surround the site, offering paths of various difficulty levels. On clear days, sweeping views extend across the valley, the City of Owen Sound, and its harbour. Birdwatching, geological features like potholes, and over 20 species of ferns can also be enjoyed.

Hiking Ontario’s Escarpment and Waterfalls

Moreover, Inglis Falls is only one of three stunning waterfalls encircling Owen Sound. Families will find picnic areas, visitor information, and washrooms, while history enthusiasts will appreciate the preserved remains of a grist mill. For accessibility, a viewing platform was designed so everyone can experience the falls. Because of its beauty and year-round appeal, this destination should not be missed by any traveler exploring Canada’s escarpment and waterfalls.
