Fishing in the Yukon Territories is a year round activity. However the conditions of fishing change drastically from season to season. In the Yukon there is a summer fishing season and there is an ice fishing season. Both provide an opportunity to catch lake trout, arctic grayling, northern pike, whitefish, burbot and kokanee salmon.
Every community in the Yukon Territories is a fishing destination. Each community enjoys its own unique selection of lakes and rivers. Some lakes and rivers are easily accessed from boat ramps with marinas and piers. Other fishing spots may require hiking a trail portaging a canoe or being flown in by a floatplane.
During the summer months fly fishing, shore fishing and trolling are all enjoyed on the lakes and rivers of the Yukon Territories. During the winter months, after the lakes and rivers freeze, huts are erected on the frozen surfaces and ice fishing season begins.

There are easy access fishing lakes in Faro like Fisheye Lake. There are lakes which are remote and located at the end of dirt roads like Black Powder Lake and there are lakes at the end of hiking trails like Dickson and Cousins Lakes.
Watson Lake, Lucky Lake, Hour Lake, McKinnon Lake and Wye Lake are a few of the fishing holes in the Watson Lake, Yukon area.
In Kluane National Park near Haines Junction, Yukon fishing is enjoyed on Kathleen Lake, Kluane Lake, Pine Lake and Dezadeash River. There are hiking trails leading to lakes like Mush, St. Elias and Bates Lakes.
