The area is a popular destination for swimming fishing and for beach activities. There are picnic tables onsite and a leisure easy grade trail exploring around the perimeter of Ruby Lake. The loop hiking trail is approximately 0.8 km long.

The region is ideal and appealing to the avid bird watcher, naturalist, hiker and photographer. The lake draws many people to the area with canoes and the gravel roads leading deep into the woods, while they attract the mountain bikers, 4X4 vehicles, ATVs and horseback riders.

The 142 hectare Sargeant Bay Provincial Park was designated as a protected area because of the fragile coastline ecology of the area including the exposed marine life at low tide, the rocky headlands and the forested uplands area.

Mount Daniel Hiking Trail is an uphill climb covering 3-4 km (1.8 - 2.5 mi.) each way. The hike up the steep grade should take (1-2 hr ) to reach the peak. Coming back takes less time as you trek down the mountain.
