People come to the Francis Point Provincial Marine Park to explore by hiking, kayaking, swimming or scuba diving.The large park protects the waterfront of the Francis Peninsula closest to Madeira Park.
The short boardwalk path extends above the wetlands and the wildlife. The boardwalk trail has some viewing benches and interpretive signs along the short path.
Mount Daniel Hiking Trail is an uphill climb covering 3-4 km (1.8 - 2.5 mi.) each way. The hike up the steep grade should take (1-2 hr ) to reach the peak. Coming back takes less time as you trek down the mountain.
The summit of the Pender Hill shows off views of the Sechelt Peninsula and Pender Harbour. The views come with entertainment too as sailboats, fishing boats, yachts and motor boats travel back and forth out of Pender Harbour.
The day use park area includes a secure marine boat area and a floating pier which is a popular draw for people wanting to do some boating, sightseeing, fishing or swimming.
Bakers Beach is a local swimming hole attracting many of the locals during the warm days. It is a small beach hidden in a small bay. The waters are calm, good for swimming, tubing and snorkeling
The small Sunshine Coast park attracts families and friends who look forward to enjoying a day lounging by the Salmon Pond near the big grassy area having a picnic and, hopefully.. going for a short comfortable walk.
