North BC Parks and Places

The moderate trail is rough in parts and does have some steep sections throughout the hiking route... but in general it is an easy hike. The should take an average person 3 hours to complete the 5 kilometre trek.

The park was once a travel route for our earliest Western Canada explorers like Alexander MacKenzie. The park itself was established in 1965 to protect the lakes and surrounding sub-boreal forests of white spruce, douglas fir and lodgepole pine trees.

Glacier Gulch Trail in Smithers, British Columbia, Canada can be a muddy, steep hiking experience navigating rock cliffs and the muddy slopes up to the glacier on Hudson Bay Mountain. From the glacier, the views open right up looking out over the surrounding valley and providing views of Hudson Bay

The area is a popular destination for hikers, but also for wildlife. Visiting Oliver Lake and hiking the Dwarf Forest Trail provides a good opportunity to view Bald Eagles and Ravens.

Irrigation Lake Park is a full serviced recreation destination complete with picnic tables (some in the shade, some not), fire pits, sitting benches, change rooms and outhouses. The lake enjoys a small sandy beach and a large grassy area. Many arrive at the lake to swim and picnic.
