The lake is a popular recreation destination for many locals and visitors but what makes Stuart Lake even more special is that it is part of a chain of lakes extending over 300 kilometres long connecting Stuart with the Trembleur and Takla Lakes.

Circling the lake is a well maintained 6.7 kilometre (3.8 mi.) trail used by hikers and mountain bikers. The route follows, a mainly, hard packed earthy trail crossing over many bridges and boardwalk which protect the most ecological sensitive areas in the region.

The Fort St. James National Historic Site is a wonderful journey into the past of BC, Canada. Each village building has a story to tell and is connected by a raised boardwalk path.

The Lower Viewpoint Trail is a short 200 metre walk to a large wooden viewing platform looking out onto the falls, up Murray River and out over the whole valley. A 60 metre waterfall located in Monkman Provincial Park situated on the Murray River in the Hart Ranges of the Rocky Mountains.

Tumbler Ridge

Dawson Trail is a year-round community walking path connecting various parks and areas of the community together. The pathway is a 4.5 kilometre route used by walkers, joggers, bikers, roller bladders and, even, golf carts in the summer and cross country skiers and snowshoers in the winter months.

The walkway is 50 feet wide in most areas and is lit up at night for evening use. The trail is used for walking, jogging, dog walking, rollerblading and biking.

Irrigation Lake Park is a full serviced recreation destination complete with picnic tables (some in the shade, some not), fire pits, sitting benches, change rooms and outhouses. The lake enjoys a small sandy beach and a large grassy area. Many arrive at the lake to swim and picnic.

The Hagwilget Canyon Bridge is a sightseeing spectacle that some miss unfortunately when touring, because they did not know it existed near the Village of New Hazelton, British Columbia, Canada. The bridge is a spectacular viewing area for overseeing the Hagwilget Canyon and the Bulkley River.

It is an easy-going short hiking trail (150 metres maybe) through a forest along the banks of the Hixon River which connects to a canyon and Hixon Falls. The canyon is home to chutes, river rapids, protective pools and swimming holes. It all depends on the season too, as river levels will fluctuate
