The collection of trails are both gravel and paved. Some are both. In the summer months the trails are used for hiking, walking, biking and jogging. In the winter months, after the snow has fallen, the trails become cross country ski and snowshoe routes.

Koocanusa Lake is a 144 kilometre long man made reservoir lake located west of Fernie. The lake is created by the Libby Dam on the Kootenay River located in Montana, U.S.A. The lake is popular for fishing, houseboating, fishing, swimming, boating and kayaking.

Cranbrook

Covering over 2000 hectares, the Cranbrook Community Forest trail system is a popular place for hikers, mountain bikers, joggers and walkers in the summer. During the winter the trails become cross country ski trails.

Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park was established in 1922 and is one of the oldest wilderness parks in the British Columbia park system. The 32,035 hectare park is located in the Selkirk Mountains, between Slocan and Kootenay Lakes, near the community of Nelson and Kaslo, BC in the Kootenay region.

The small recreation site is a two tiered campground with a small day use park. The lower tier of campsites rest on the shores of the lake and have lake access. The top tier backs onto the forest with views of the lake. They tend to be more private.

Jaffray

Redstreak Trail is a 2.3 km hiking adventure exploring a river eco system before connecting with Redstreak Mountain. The trail is located in the Kootenay National Park of British Columbia, Canada near the Village of Radium Hot Springs.

The trail has 3 trailheads. One trailhead is located at the Highway #3a Bridge crossing the Kootenay River. Another access trailhead is located via the McPhee Creek FSR (Forest Service Road) at the Brilliant Terminal Station. The most eastern trailhead is in Glade.

The park is a very popular summer lake destination for adventure, beach, sun and fun. The 14 hectare park includes a sandy beach, grassy lawns, wheelchair accessible flush toilets, change rooms, running cold water taps, lakefront playground, many picnic tables - with some under the shade of trees.

Thompson Waterfall Trail is a short 1.4 kilometre loop trail leading to a waterfall on the Blaeberry River. At the 900 metre point is the location of the waterfall.

Mount Fernie Provincial Park is a wilderness park with an interpretive trail exploring forests filled with Douglas fir, spruce, black cottonwood, western red cedar. western larch and trembling aspen trees. The three kilometre interpretive trail follows Lizard Creek leading to a viewpoint.
