The area, in and around, Cedar Lake is rugged, forested and home to much wildlife. The lake is popular for swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, camping and mountain biking in the summer months. The gravel forestry roads and bush trails in the region of the lake draw the mountain bikers and hikers.

Bugaboo Provincial Park is a summer backpacking, hiking, climbing and wilderness camping destination located in the Purcell Mountains west of the village of Radium Hot Springs in the Kootenays of British Columbia, Canada.

On the lake are two popular recreation parks. The Tie Lake Regional Day Use Park and the Tie Lake Recreation Site, both, provide an opportunity to enjoy activities on the lake. Activities like swimming, canoeing, boating, fishing and water skiing.

Dewdney Trail connects the village of Hope with Fort Steele near Cranbrook, BC. However, we will be discussing the 43 kilometre section of the Dewdney Trail located between Rossland, BC and Christina Lake.

The Sproule Creek Trail system includes three recreation trails - the Millsite, Westside Loop and East Fork Trails. The trails are enjoyed by hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers in the summer.

The trail has 3 trailheads. One trailhead is located at the Highway #3a Bridge crossing the Kootenay River. Another access trailhead is located via the McPhee Creek FSR (Forest Service Road) at the Brilliant Terminal Station. The most eastern trailhead is in Glade.
