The totem pole measures 53 metres tall. That is about 173 feet for our American friends. Jimmy Dick was the Chief Carver. The traditional figures on this pole represent many of the families that belong to the Kwakwaka’wakw First Nation.

Some of the activities enjoyed in the park include picnicking, sightseeing, beachcombing, swimming and hiking. There is a short hiking trail following the shoreline exploring through trees leading from the parking lot to the day use area.

Dinner Bay is a family playground and picnic park and the Japanese Gardens are home to gardens with floral colors, scents and outdoor art.

Whaletown

The Mt. Parke Regional Park is a popular hiking destination for visitors because it is a chance to access easy views overlooking the Gulf Islands and the surrounding ocean channels.

Montrose Road

Popular destination on South Pender Island for adventure and for relaxation. The park features a sandy beach, rocky shoreline, tidal pools, hiking trails, wildlife and a wilderness campground.

Ainslie Point Road

Some of the activities enjoyed at Campbell Point include hiking, beachcombing, swimming, picnicking and birdwatching. Bennett Bay is considered one of the better sandy beaches on Mayne Island and that is close by.

Isabella Lane

On Salt Spring Island, from the Baynes Peak Summit on Mount Maxwell the mountain park enjoys ocean, mountain and island views of Burgoyne Bay and the Sansum Narrows.

The rugged trail leads explorers to a popular local swimming hole named Big Lake, a marsh which is ideal for birdwatching and some viewing benches.

Bellhouse Park is a popular sightseeing and picnicking destination on Galiano Island. The ocean views from the park overlook Active Pass and Mayne Island. From the shores of Bellhouse Park one can observe wildlife like seals, sea birds, predator birds and sea lions.

Also referred to by the locals as the "Gator Gardens, the hiking path provides a sightseeing tour of the ecological environment on the island.
