Here is a list of 10 outdoor fall events near Calgary Alberta to get yourself outside and enjoying the sunshine. As the weather turns from bright warm sunny days of summer, to the crisp cool air of fall, Alberta is still the sunniest province in Canada! Heads up, I personally will consider anything within 3 hours to potentially be a day trip destination. You'll want to dress warm, as temperatures in Alberta can fluctuate drastically within minutes, especially in the fall months. The temperatures drop to single digits most evenings starting at the beginning of September, or earlier. A mid August camping trip this year saw overnight temperatures of only 1 degree Celsius. Stay warm and enjoy the short fall season we get in Alberta with these fun outdoor activities.

It's a beautiful place for a walk through their fantastic seasonal decorations. Granary Road is best known for its year round indoor market. Therefore, during the autumn season, the vendors definitely switch to a colourful seasonal approach. With or without kids, this is a great fall fun destination. You can walk the market or purchase admission to go into the adventure area on the property right at the storefront market area.
A super fun farm with a bunch of cute animals to feed and pet. Lots of farm style playground areas as well as beautiful sunflowers. They have a large cornmaze if you're brave enough as well. Plenty for the kids to do at the Lethbridge Cornmaze. A fantastic variety of pumpkins available to purchase. You can just purchase your farm admission in the main barn store at the farm.
The Kraay Family Farm is about 1.5 hours north of Calgary in the Lacombe area of Alberta. Absolutely worth the drive for a fun road trip north of Calgary. A very family friendly fun farm with over 40 attractions and amenities, everyone will find something they enjoy here! Their Pumpkin Days start in mid September, and all pumpkin sale proceeds(2023) on Thanksgiving are going to the Canadian Mental Health Association. For example their corn maze this year is a very thoughtful theme "Ribbon of Hope." Pumpkins available to purchase. As a result of all of this, this is a popular place and tickets for the day can sell out way before the date, so plan ahead a pre-purchase your tickets online in advance!
The Brooks Cornmaze is more than just a corn maze. They have plenty of other fun interactive things to do around farm including animal visits, giant dominoes and the human hamster wheel. Bowden Sunmaze is a late summer/early fall activity, but absolutely one worth visiting as we transition from summer into fall. There are tons of strawberries available in the late summer into early fall, weather depending. The selection of vegetables is huge at the Jungle Farm. A huge Halloween event, Field of Screams, brought to you by Cobbs Adventure Park and the terrifying Screamworks Inc.! Pumpkins After Dark is Canadas largest Halloween event takes place from the week of September 20 straight through until Halloween on October 31st. You'll want to pre-purchase your tickets online and select the day and time block that you will arrive. Over 10000 pumpkins lit up at Winsports Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. Jack-o-lanterns come alive with huge displays of dragons, insects, sealife, movie characters and much more! There are tons of unique cool photo opportunities with fantastic Halloween themed backgrounds, as well as food trucks and pumpkin carving demonstrations. Therefore do not be surprised to learn the large displays are not made from real pumpkins. You have to be realistic, and understand our cold weather would rot the pumpkin displays very quickly if they were all made from real pumpkins. Instead the artists use a foam style to create these 2D and 3D carved works of art. Of course, pumpkins available for purchase here too! You must purchase tickets online for this event.

Cary Horning Thanks! Definitely a lot of fun to be had happy)
Great list Andrea! Very difficult to choose, would have to see them all! Eliminating the epic Pumpkins After Dark from the list because that would naturally be the favorite, I'd next select number 9, after all who can resist baby kangaroos, black lit mini golf and multiple haunted houses!
Kangaroos for the win!
