Nickel Beach is located near the communities of Fort Erie and Port Colborne in the Niagara Region of Ontario otherwise referred to as Wine Country.
Nickel Beach, one of my personal favorites, is a gathering place where the warm waters of Lake Erie meets a long white sandy beach providing great windsurfing, swimming and sunbathing. There is a picnic area, rest room facilities and volleyball courts on site.
The beach is a great place to spend the day, the water stays quite shallow for a long distance which makes it great for kids and playing games. Lake Erie enjoys nice temperatures in the summer months ideal for swimming. However, be aware that being a 1+ kilometre long beach does draw large crowds in peak periods of summer fun. (Weekends and holidays).
One of the features of the beach that you do not find much anymore is that you can drive your vehicle on the beach right to your beach spot!
A daily or seasonal access pass is required for all vehicles and occupants entering the beach property. Season Passes can be purchased during regular business hours at Nickel Beach, City Hall (66 Charlotte Street), or the Roselawn Centre (296 Fielden Avenue).
