From the lakeshore, continue following the lake for a few hundred more metres and the trail eventually runs into a wilderness campground.
From Cheakamus Lake explorers can hike to the Black Tusk via Helm Creek. There are other marked trailheads found along the long gravel road leading to the parking lot of the Cheakamus Trailhead.
On the drive to Chekamus Lake look for the blue signs marking the trail entrances to the Farside Trail, Highline Trail and the Crator Lookout Trail.
