Difficulty: Easy - Family
Park Amenities:

Hiking

The Kumdis River Trail is a short 800 meter (one-way) out-and-back route located just outside Port Clements. If driving towards Masset, you will see a small pullout immediately adjacent to the Kumdis River Bridge – this is essentially the trailhead. It is not advised that one drive into the short dirt road because there is not enough room to turn around.

The short trail runs through a forested section beside the river and brings you out onto Kumdis Bay. Despite not being formally maintained, the trail is nevertheless an EASY hike suitable for families. There is some deadfall along the rough path, but it is fairly minimal. Once you reach the terminus point of the trail, you can walk out onto the marshy lowlands at low tide and bird-watch.

Kumdis Bay is naturally rich with salmon during Spring, so please be bear aware at that time.

The trail takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, roundtrip.
