Stake Lake is a wilderness recreation destination located southwest of Kamloops , British Columbia, Canada. It is a popular spot for hiking, mountain biking, fishing and nordic skiing. Although, it is important to note that the Stake Lake region is designed to cater to the nordic skiing crowds during the winter months.
Stake Lake
The area around Stake Lake enjoys 45 km (28 mi) of very well signed and very well-groomed classic and skating tracks for xc skiers. Cross country ski trails range from novice to advanced. Some of the novice trails include the Cartwheel, Cowpoke and Drifter while the Bushwacker and the Rattler would be for the more advanced xc skier.

Throughout this Kamloops trail network is a series of shelters and outhouses. Some with barrels for fires to warm up. All trails start from the main parking lot. In the parking lot on Stake Lake is a heated nordic lodge, pit toilets, large trail map and picnic tables during the winter months. The Stake Lake trails hook into the Gus Johnson Trail which leads to Lac le Jeune Provincial Park.

In the summer months the boat launch and hiking trails remain busy. Fishing, canoeing and kayaking is popular on Stake Lake. Most arrive in hopes of catching some trout while fishing. Others arrive to paddle the shores of the lake sightseeing and hoping to spot some wildlife.

Hiking and mountain biking is enjoyed around the lake exploring the many trails leading through the trees and up to viewpoints. The trail system is by no means extreme except for a few areas. High point along the trail network is near the Bushwacker Trail at 1410 metres. The easy to medium grade trail network is well signed and double wide which is ideal for good hiking.
