Community Trails is a collection of recreation trails exploring the nearby backcountry forests and the community of Fernie, BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The trail network connects to many of the natural features popular in Fernie like the Elk River, Coal Creek, Brydon Creek, Fairy Creek, Mount Fernie and Mt. Proctor.

The collection of trails are both gravel and paved. Some are both. In the summer months the trails are used for hiking, walking, biking and jogging. In the winter months, after the snow has fallen, the trails become cross country ski and snowshoe routes. The community trail network includes the Dogwood, Great Northern, Annex, West Fernie Dyke, Old Stumpy, Kootenay Elk, Coal Creek, Cemetery Bypass, Brewery Creek, Mountview and Riverside Trails.

Many of the trails connect to parks located in the community of Fernie, BC. The Great Northern and Dogwood Trails connect to Annex Park. The Mountview Park Trail connects to the James White Park. The West Fernie Dyke Trail connects to Thomson Park. Located on many of the community trails, scattered here and there, are sitting benches and viewpoints.

How To Get ToFernie Community Trails

Travel to the community of Fernie, BC. Once in the community, park anywhere near the Elk River and you will connect to one of the main trails. Many trails identified with good signage.
