Twin Valley Reservoir is a great fishing destination just south of Calgary Alberta

Twin Valley Reservoir is a small 7.6 km2 man-made reservoir approximately 15 km long, about 2 km wide at its maximum point and located near the town of Stavely Alberta. This reservoir was first filled in 2003 after a dam on the Little Bow River was constructed near its confluence with Mosquito Creek. This was all done to help with water scarcity and for use with irrigation of farmland in the surrounding county. A great spot to go fishing and enjoy the prairies with a distant mountain view.  Additionally, there is a campground near the dam if you are planning to stay awhile.

Twin Valley Campground

This pet-friendly campground has both powered and non-powered sites available on a first come first serve basis. The Twin Valley Campground is a self-registration site, you can pay by cash, cheque, e-transfer, or credit card with all information available onsite. Amenities at the campground include an easy access boat launch area, outhouses, camp shelter, walking trails, and a day-use area with picnic tables and horseshoe pits (bring your own horseshoes). Be aware this is an open prairie campground with minimal trees and open to winds coming through the valley. There will most likely be no cell service around the campground.

Fishing Twin Valley Reservoir

One of my favourite places to throw a line is the Twin Valley Reservoir. It is home to numerous Northern Pike and it has a healthy population to keep you entertained for the day. It's not too often we head out there and do not catch one! We have pulled in 20lb+ Northern Pike while ice fishing here. As well as landing a fish on the first cast in the summer months. It is a windy open area so come prepared for the elements. Don't forget to tie your ice shack down as the wind can literally come out of nowhere! Alberta fishing regulations apply to this area of the Parkland Prairie (Pp1) Zone. If you are fishing during the later summer months, be aware of the green algae that can bloom in this lake.

Easy to find by driving on AB-2- near Parkland head east on AB-529, then turn left onto Range Rd 254 and follow to Twin Valley Reservoir for a fun filled day or weekend outside.

A fun northern pike fishing destination just 1 hour south of Calgary Alberta! Furthermore, while in the area throw a line in and try your luck at nearby Pine Coulee, McGregor Lake, or Clear Lake!
