Information About the Largest Mallard Duck in Alberta Canada

This large bird weighs in at a whopping 1 tonne, and has a wingspan of 23 feet! Nearby Whitford Lake is where the idea for this attraction came from. Whitford Lake is a fantastic birdwatching area and a popular spot for, you guessed it, Mallards. This area is frequently used as a breeding area for this beautiful duck species. Thus why the community of Andrew decided to put up an oversized mallard duck to honour their many other feathery seasonal residents. This tourist attraction was built in 1992 by the Andrew Lions Club members with a tourism grant to help draw people to this quaint little community and add another addition to the Giants of the Prairies tour.
