The Cat Creek Trail is a 3.5 kilometre return hiking trail located in the Highwood Area of Kananaskis Country in Alberta, Canada. The route explores along the banks of Cat Creek, through a forest, over a mountain ridge and into Cat Creek Canyon where there is a waterfall.

Kananaskis Park Photo GalleryThe trail begins from the Cat Creek Day Use Recreation Area located on the south end of Hwy #40.

From the trailhead located in the parking lot of the day use area the route begins by following a single track trail uphill before reaching the highway. Stay in a group, keep children close, and watch for speeding vehicles on the highway before crossing.

On the other side of the highway the trail picks up again and leads to a sightseeing viewpoint on a ridge. Continue along the hiking trail, over the ridge, until you reach an old gravel access road. Cross the road and pick up the trail again on the other side of the gravel road.

Continue along the route to an old mining camp. There is a resting area here before the switchbacks leading back down to Cat Creek where you will cross over two wooden foot bridges. After the second foot bridge continue along the trail for a short distance to the waterfall.

Continue pass the waterfall to the Cat Creek Hills and there are some excellent views of the Elk Mountain Range. The trail to the hills is rough, unmarked and steep leading out of the canyon and up the mountainside.
