My family and I were very curious about where all the indoor playgrounds and entertainment for kids in southern Alberta were hiding. So we set out on multiple adventures to find as many as we could!
I am going to share our list of 13 fun places for kids when the weather is not ideal outside. Or, maybe you're road tripping and need the kids to burn off some of that energy? Nonetheless, all these places are all open year round and the opportunities to make memories are just waiting for you!
TREEHOUSE NORTH CALGARY
3333 34 Ave NE, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
With 2 locations in Calgary, the Treehouse North in the northeast part of the city is a fun place to spend some time. My daughter had her 1st birthday party at this location and everyone had a blast. Treehouse North Calgary offers party rooms, arcade games and prizes, a toddler ball pit, a complete toddler play area with a small slide into a ball pit, and plenty of age appropriate toys. This location has a selection of food snacks and drinks with a large seating area. Additionally, there is a larger play area for the older kids, aimed towards children 13 and younger. You must have socks in order to play at this indoor Alberta playground.
Hide n Seek Indoor Playground North Calgary
49 Aero Drive NE, Calgary, Alberta
Another great option in the north part of Calgary is Hide N Seek Indoor Playground. Located near the Calgary Airport on Aero Drive, this would be a fantastic stop if you have a bit of time between connecting flights at YYC airport and want to bring the kids somewhere to burn off some energy. Consequently, there is a large open area for seating to watch over the kids while they have some indoor fun. The Orange Cafe, arcade games and prizes, 2 small toddler play areas, and large spacious colourful play areas for the older kids. My 2 year old can navigate most of the playground on her own but it is also big enough for me to go through with her which is nice. We really like this location for its large fast slides we do together. You must have socks to play here. Check their website for great deals and discounts throughout the week.
KidzGo Indoor Playground
688 Heritage Dr SE, Unit #100, Calgary, AB
KidzGo Indoor Playground is a fantastic huge, uniquely colourful and fun place for the family. KidzGo has a cool cafe with a good amount of seating available. The Power Wheels track area was a hit with my 2 year old. This location has 2 toddler sections, 1 is geared more toward the younger infant/toddler and the other is for the more advanced toddler ages. Then there is a ginormous bigger kid section with lots of nooks and areas to navigate. Pretty easy to navigate as an adult too if you want to. Very cool place to spend some time! Party packages are available.
Treehouse Indoor Playground South Calgary
240 Midpark Way SW, Unit #13
Although it has the same name as the north Treehouse location in the city, we found it to be quite different! So if you've been to 1, it does not mean you've seen both. We made the drive to the Treehouse Indoor Playground South Calgary to check it out and everyone enjoyed the large space and atmosphere. The toddler areas are very similar between locations, with mini slides, age appropriate toys, and ball pits. The bigger play structure definitely has some super fun areas to explore and climb around. Birthday rooms and packages are available.
The Big Box - Family Entertainment Hub
930 64 Ave NE, Calgary
Indoor Playgrounds and Entertainment for Kids in Southern Alberta includes the Big Box Family Entertainment Hub. It has something for everyone! A ginormous space turned into an indoor fun adventure park! Everything from big inflatables, bumper cars, arcade games with prizes, a sky-high rope course, huge play structures, and more. Featuring a fun cafe, The Big Bite, with some seating to relax and take a break from all the excitement. As well as, there are Birthday Party packages for all ages and summer camps are available for kids aged 5-14.
Chuck E Cheese
2612 32 St NE, Calgary
Good old Chuck E Cheese can be found near Sunridge Mall in the northeast of Calgary. Consequently, it is a classic indoor play place with loads of fun for the family. Munch on some delicious food from the restaurant, enjoy an abundance of arcade style games and don't forget to watch for cool events and savings throughout the year. Offers fantastic birthday packages ideal for ages 4-8 but anyone of any age can enjoy a birthday here!
Big Fun Inflatable Park
261024 Dwight McLellan Trail, Balzac, Alberta
Big Fun Inflatable Park is awesome! Maybe not for toddlers if the parents can't keep up. They need supervision at all times in these big inflatables. Although, there is a toddler section that is smaller and easier to keep an eye on the little ones. Free locks are available to keep your items safe. Great prices for the amount of fun you will have, 2 and under are free with a paying adult. Must wear their "Frog" socks, grippy socks, very affordable for a pair. Can keep them and reuse them for when you come back! Alberta's only licensed Indoor Playground, enjoy a beer or indulge and try one of the "Adult" Slushies. Birthday party packages are available. Unlike any other indoor play place we have ever been to, we had an absolute blast here for a few hours.
Sky Castle Indoor Playground
New Horizon Mall, 260300 Writing Creek Cres, Balzac, AB
Sky Castle Indoor Playground is big bright, colourful, and super fun. A little higher in price than surrounding indoor playgrounds, it is a place to spend a large amount of time though. Some seating is available and a tasty cafe with food, drinks, and treats. Lots of arcade games and a huge play area including a ninja climbing course. Bathrooms are nearby with direct access. Must use mall washrooms located outside of the playground area but to come and go. Admission to Sky Castle Indoor Playground does not include admission to the Mini-town but if you plan on going to both on the same day you do get half-price admission to the 2nd one. Free lockers are available at both, bring your own locks.
Mini Town Indoor Playground (Technically a part of Sky Castle as well but separate and requires its own admission)
Located inside The New Horizon Mall across the hall from Sky Castle. 260300 Writing Creek Cres, Balzac, AB
The Mini-Town is located beside Sky Castle Indoor Playground and is meant for the younger kids. Aimed mainly for toddlers, this place is huge! Everything a little one could want to explore learn and play with. My 1 year old daughter absolutely loved it. Again, a little higher admission price than surrounding indoor playgrounds, but worth the price because of the open concept and it really does cover everything age appropriate for toddlers. Admission to the Mini City does not include admission to the Sky Castle, but if you'll be going to both on the same day, you get half price admission to the 2nd one (Sky Castle or Mini Town). Free lockers are available, therefore bring your own locks. In like manner, free coffee and iced-t beverages are available in the Mini Town as well during your stay.
Willow Creek Indoor Playground
4209 3 St E, Claresholm, Alberta
Willow Creek Playground is a great small town indoor playground. Yet it is a fantastic spot to avoid the large city crowds while the kids enjoy an afternoon of active fun. Whether you are on a road trip, a local, or just feel like trying a new indoor playground, not in the city, Claresholm Indoor Playground is a fun stop. Small play set compared to the city options but fun and easy to navigate for the kids. Birthday party packages are available and they even offer Nerf Wars! Best to call ahead and let them know you would like to pop by. Watch for fun unique events here!
Wear 'M' Out Indoor Playground
4005 7 Ave S, Lethbridge, Alberta
Wear 'M' Out is a fun place we like to visit while traveling around the southern part of Alberta to let our toddler burn some energy. The toddler area is a good size with lots of exciting things for the littles to explore. Furthermore, you will find a large play structure for the bigger kids in the family. All in all, with Arcade games, mini cars, a yummy cafe, and lots of seating for parents this place is a must stop if looking for this type of family activity. Birthday rooms are available for parties at this indoor playground and entertainment in Southern Alberta.
Crowsnest Pass Indoor Playground
2802 222 St, Bellevue
In the heart of the Crowsnest Pass in southern Alberta, you will find this cute little gem of an indoor playground. The open hours can be a little sporadic so best to check their Facebook page before planning your visit. Keep in mind this is a very small town so don't expect the long extended hours you would find in the big city. Although, it is FREE if you do get lucky and catch them while they are open! A wonderful spot to take a rest on your beautiful road trip through Southern Alberta. Enjoy the history of this wonderful area while visiting the Crowsnest Pass.
The Dunmore Dugout
846 3 Ave, Dunmore
Located just east of Medicine Hat you'll come across a very fun and unique place, Dunmore Dugout. While this location is packed with tons of fun outdoor summer activities, there are still loads of options inside as well. A large playground structure, trampolines, laser tag, mini golf, a soft play area (ages 0-8), as well as a climbing wall! Food and drinks are available as well as birthday party packages at a fantastic rate. Although the reviews don't sound overly great, we genuinely enjoyed our time here in the summer. We spent all of our time on outdoor activities. Be mindful that there are new owners and they have started making some changes in regard to a few things at the Dunmore Dugout. Positive good changes!
Duffy's Fun Centre - PERMANENTLY CLOSED JUNE 2023
707 1 St W, Brooks, AB
More geared towards arcade games and rides, Duffy's Fun Centre is still worth a mention on this list. Featuring a ton of arcade games, including redemption games for prizes as well as super fun little kid rides. A fun menu with a huge selection of ice cream (seasonal). Duffy's is always changing out the games and giving them a fresh fun vibe. Worth a stop if you're in the Brooks Alberta area with the kids.

Diana Mohrsen Yes, thank you. It certainly took a long time to find all these places!
Awesome article and photos! Well done!
Rene Coatta Thank you!
Great to see that Chuck E Cheese is still in business. I remember going there when I was a child, so fun! Great topic Andrea, probably a first for a review of indoor play places. I did not know there were so many, but very practical for colder regions. Saves the sofa being used as trampoline, the chairs for a hockey net, the chandelier for a merry go round. Here on the raincoast we have the option to hang out at -- McDonald's PlayPlace.
