Sunningdale Park

Sunningdale Park is a wetland park located in the community of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. The park is popular for hiking, birdwatching, biking picnicking and sightseeing.

Wetlands are an important part of the environment in Saskatchewan and can only do good when protected in communities. The Sunningdale Park is such a park. It is a wetland park which reduces soil erosion, restores ground water, provides moisture in the dry air and attracts wildlife to the area.

The park is situated on both banks of a small creek connected by a paved and gravel pathway. It is a creek environment of shallow marshes and sloughs protected by tall grasses and cat tails surrounded by large green grass lawns and woodlands.

A 3.7 kilometre paved and gravel loop trail called the Rotary Cove Trail explores around Sunningdale Park crossing foot bridges back and forth. The trail is part of a network of Moose Jaw community trails called the Rotary Trails.

The trail is an ideal way to sightsee while in the park. They are easy going, mostly level, pathways suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Located alongside the trail are many sightseeing benches with views of the creek, wetland and the abundant birding wildlife.

The wetland environment attracts many bird species to the park including many waterfowl and songbirds. The sightseeing benches provide good birding vantage points for birdwatchers.

There is also a very large picnic shelter with picnic tables located on a grassy knoll in the park providing views of the surrounding parkland. Nearby... is a playground and some fun for the young ones.
