Spooky Halloween Activity Near Ottawa

Shoot zombies with paintballs as you ride a retrofitted bus

A spooking and action-packed night out at the The Zombie Slayer Bus in Navan, Ontario. The zombie led event makes an awesome family trip, date night, or group activity. As an Adventure Seeker and paranormal investigator, Halloween is definitely my happy place! Therefore, I certainly visit a lot of haunts (and that makes up a huge chunk of our October), but sometimes I find something so cool and unique that it's impossible not to shout it from the rooftops! The Zombie slayer bus, based in Navan, definitely made that list and was way more fun than I was expecting!

The Zombie Slayer Bus Halloween Attraction

A bit outside of Ottawa, and a popular attraction, you can make your way to Navan for a night of zombie slaying fun. This exciting evening bus ride at Commando Paintball brings the riders, now "Zombie Slayers", on to a retrofitted bus with side facing seats and paintball guns mounted to the windows with the mission of slaying all of the zombies along the ride. Consequently, the Zombie slayer ride has been in operation at Commando Action Centre for years and managed to run even during the pandemic. Throughout the year, Commando also offers paintball, bazooka ball, and airsoft, but for the month of October, the Zombie Slayer Thrill Ride bus is where it's at!

The Bus

Our trip started with some time in the waiting area, which included a lovely firepit to keep warm and add to the ambiance. Before our adventure of riding, we acquired our paintballs and were ready for slaughter! Seeing the bus pull up was an exciting moment, as it is totally kitted out with lights and decorations to add to the experience.

Riding the Zombie Slayer Bus

One of the Most Unique Halloween Attractions in Ottawa

Before riding, we acquired our paintballs and were ready for slaughter! Upon boarding, we passed some bloody handprints and graffiti to get to our seats and were seated next to a family with a four-year-old - it was looking like this would be a great family event as well! Then, as the bus got going, all of the kids got excited and so did we!

It is Zombie Time

Our guide, combined with the ambiance of the awesome bus, started to get us hyped up as we moved toward our first stop. To our surprise, they had gone all out with backlight paint, full designed sets, and a combination of stationary targets and a LOT of shambling friends to shoot at. Children's squeals of joy echoed through the bus as we took out zombie after zombie - certainly one of the most unique Halloween attractions in Ottawa and definitely the coolest attraction in Navan!

Something new and different from a haunted house! Or at least this is the first I have heard/seen of it! Looks like it would be fantastic fun!
