Fort Edward National Historic Site was constructed in 1750 on the banks of the St. Croix and Avon Rivers near the community of Windsor, NS, Canada which is east of Kentville, Nova Scotia. The historic site was built here to support the new British base in Halifax and to ensure and protect the communication lines between Halifax and the Bay of Fundy region. The fort played a role during the Seven Years’ War, the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Today, the Fort Edward National Historic Site is home to the oldest blockhouse in Canada.
