The 1793 York Redoubt National Historic Site is a fort designed to protect Halifax Harbour between 1790 to World War 2. The National Historic Site (designated in 1962) was the first line of defense as you approach Halifax Harbour. Each potential conflict (although there never was one) brought new equipment to the fort.
