Cobblers Path - East Coast Trail

Hiking and snowshoeing Newfoundland Canada's coastline trails

Cobblers Path - East Coast Trail in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. This coastal hike along the Avalon Peninsula's East Coast Trail has everything you could ask for, with dramatic cliffs, incredible views, and interesting geological and historic features.

Cobblers Path - East Coast Trail

A short 10 minute walk through the woods open up into a stunning ocean vista. However, please note that the sidetrail down to Klondyke Gulch is steep but worth the effort. Therefore, be prepared for high winds and be cautious as the trail runs very close to the cliffs. As you continue, prepare to climb 130 metres to the top of Torbay Southern Head, descend to Cobblers Brook and then climb again to Red Cliff Head. The views are spectacular!

Signtseeing the Coastline in Newfoundland

Abandoned concrete structures, many built in the 1950's as part of a Cold War radar defence system, are scattered across the landscape. The path continues on through trees near the cliff top, eventually coming to a junction with Red Cliff Road and the road out to the parking area. IN closing... don't forget to bring your binoculars for whale and bird watching!
