SUMMARY:Calgary Folk Music Festival Block Heater 2022
DESCRIPTION:We are coming out of hibernation with Block Heater 7.0 from February 17-20, presented by ATB.\n\nREIGNITE YOUR PASSION FOR LIVE MUSIC\n\nPlug-in Thursday night with a free digital Black History Month panel discussion. Friday and Saturday evening we've partnered with Chinook Blast, BIG, and Glow to bring you free outdoor shows at Olympic Plaza. On Sunday, we shift gears to the illustrious Jack Singer Concert Hall with two physically-distanced concerts.\n\nWith indoor assigned seating, mandatory masking, and a state-of-the-art air filtration system courtesy of the Arts Commons, the Calgary Folk Music Festival is dedicated to providing opportunities to enjoy live music while keeping the safety of our artists, volunteers, and patrons top of mind.\n\nMEET YOUR HEADLINERS...\nQueer Ethiopian/Eritrean artist Witch Prophet creates layered hip-hop, jazz, and soul-inspired soundscape. 2021 Polaris Prize winner Cadence Weapon rallies for change with electro-infused beats. Kacy & Clayton’s old-time, Canadiana country troubadour songs are simple and serene. Raine Maida & Chantal Kreviazuk will break hearts with symbiotically melded voices. Bobby Bazini channels his love for old R&B and blues-tinged pop into as-yet-unfilmed soundtracks. And Calgary-bred Reuben and the Dark closes out the weekend with anthemic, painterly lyrics that are cathartic and harmony-laden, joined by the Bullhorn Singers from the Blood Tribe.\n\n\n
