Beacon Hill Park is THE park in Victoria, BC, Canada on Vancouver Island.  It is an everything park with activities, events, gardens, ponds, trails, picnic sites and more. Many arrive every year to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the colorful gardens of the park.  

Since 1882 Beacon Hill Park has been a sightseeing fixture and travel highlight for many who visit the City of Victoria. Some arrive to relax while others visit to enjoy activities like biking,  rollerblading, jogging, birding, and picnicking. For many in the region the park is often the scene for special occasions including weddings, family reunions and group functions.

The Victoria park measures over 81 hectares (200 acres).  When exploring the park one will enjoy many of the trails meandering  through forests of  Maple, Garry Oak, Arbutus, Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar trees.  The trail system is very well maintained and connects visitors to playing fields, birding ponds, day use picnic areas, sightseeing benches, floral gardens, playgrounds and a few water fountains. The walking trails in the park are, mostly paved. Most are level and therefore baby stroller and wheelchair friendly.  

Goodacre and Fountain Lakes located in Beacon Hill Park are the main gathering places among the trees where water fowl gather like ducks, peacocks, blue herons and predator birds including Bald Eagles.

The park is also a very popular destination for events and festivals. There is a bandshell and many open grass fields which are ideal for hosting large groups. While enjoying a picnic or attending an event it is very common to view horse drawn carriages stolling by providing sightseeing tours.

There are art attractions in the park as well like the 1956 First Nations Totem Pole standing at 38.9 metres (128 feet) tall , as well as, artist painting's of  landscapes. 

Beacon Hill Park is one of the best free attractions in the City of Victoria  For those touring the city on foot, Beacon Hill Park is within easy walking distance from the Inner Harbour, downtown shopping, Dallas Road and many of the main attractions in the community.

How To Get ToVictoria's Beacon Hill Park

Best accessed from the south end of Douglas Street or follow Dallas Road which borders the back end of the park. Cannot miss it ! Ask any local for directions as every local knows the park.
