"Artist Alley" is an opportunity for visitors to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to see some of the work that local artists are creating on Vancouver Island, Canada. Victoria BC and area enjoys a great mixture of unique and eclectic artists. Often the creative talent is very west coast and, to many people, it is the first time seeing west coast island artwork on display.
Artists from around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands gather weekly in an open-air market located in downtown Victoria to share their talents and creations with the public. Starting at the large stone stairs off of Wharf Street on the waterfront the artist booths stand shoulder to shoulder all the way to Government Street.
The small cobble stone alley-way covers 2 blocks of artisan booths. It is a great opportunity to spend a day outdoors and experience west coast art. Some of the items on hand, on any given day, could include stone jewelry, hemp clothes, wooden and stone carvings, organic foods, authors, potters, photographers and books, paintings, drawings and west coast wooden furniture.
"Artist Alley" is centrally located in Victoria, BC. Attractions, guides, art galleries, retail shops, restaurants, sightseeing tours are all within an easy walking distance. Then, not far away, is the waterfront views of the Inner Harbour. Here many gather for coffee, lunch, music, entertainment and people watching.
